"I create art with a magical material - cloth. Cloth covers our bodies; we sit on it, touch it and look at it. It helps us tell stories, it comforts and protects us. We all have an intimate relationship with it and it has a profound effect on our sense of wellbeing.
Cloth is my medium."
Shortly after graduating from the Royal College of Art in London, Little's work entered the permanent collections of the Vitra Design Museum in Basel and Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris; a remarkable honor for a woman still in her twenties. But, it wasn't until a few years later, with magazine cover stories describing her first collection, "...the quality of which make them appropriate as art objects...", that Mary established her reputation as an accomplished artist. The critic's stories detailed the new language she had created, her couture workmanship and the imaginative characters she had shaped in the collection.
Her commissions and gallery pieces have been acquired for private collections in Europe and North America, as well as public collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
Mary Little lives and works in Downtown, Los Angeles.
